Our Education Department is committed to the improvement of reading proficiency among income challenged students within the Bay Area. In 2018, the California Assessment of Student Performance reported that only 20% of income challenged students are reading at grade level. These rates are astronomically low, compared to 70% of non-income challenged students, who exceed standard reading levels. In fact, statictics show that students who are unsuccessful in early school years are more likely to drop out of high school, get into trouble, and/or become a part of the justice system. Therefore, we are committed to the academic success of these students by providing intensive reading support.
Our curriculum was strategically developed to prepare students to meet all required English Language Arts standards required by The State of California Board of Education. This includes developing print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition, and increasing reading fluency. We partner with local public schools in need of our literacy support services. By providing quality support for students who need it most, we help cultivate productive and successful adults to lead our community!
